Shugo Chara Egg! (しゅごキャラエッグ! Shugo Kyara Eggu!?) was a Hello! Project unit, originally consisting of four Hello! Pro Egg members: Ayaka Wada, Yuuka Maeda, Kanon Fukuda and Akari Saho. The group was announced on September 20, 2008 and debuted with a live performance.

Shugo Chara Egg's purpose was to sing the opening theme songs for the anime Shugo Chara! Doki—, the anime that the Hello! Project group Buono! had previously performed opening and ending songs for. Even though Shugo Chara Egg! performed the anime's opening songs, the ending songs were still sung by Buono!. Additionally, each of the four members wear costumes based on the "character transformations" (a key element of the series' plot) of Amu Hinamori, the main character of the series.

Shugo Chara Egg's debut single was titled "Minna no Tamago", and was used as the first opening theme for Shugo Chara!! Doki-. It was released on the Pony Canyon label on October 12, 2008. A new second generation Shugo Chara Egg! was created in August 2009, adding Mizuki Fukumura and Irori Maeda to replace Yuuka Maeda and Kanon Fukuda respectively. Nanami Tanabe was chosen as the new Amulet Diamond.[1] The girls are the hostesses for the live action segments of Shugo Chara! Party.

In 2011, Mizuki Fukumura joined Morning Musume.

2009–2010: Line-up changes

In spring of 2009, the members of Shugo Chara! Egg participated in the musical adaptation of Shugo Chara!, starring Maeda in the leading role as Amu and Fukuda as Nadeshiko. Wada and Saho appeared in minor roles as unnamed students of Seiō Academy.

In August 2009, Maeda, Fukuda, and Wada were withdrawn from the group to join S/mileage. To replace them, auditions were held. Mizuki Fukumura and Irori Maeda passed the auditions successfully as the new Amulet Heart and Amulet Clover, while Nanami Tanabe was finally chosen to replace Wada's role as Amulet Diamond in January 2010.

Later in 2010, Shugo Chara Egg disbanded, following the end of the anime series, Shugo Chara.

2011: Departure of Former Members

In early 2011 or late 2010, former Shugo Chara Egg! member, Irori Maeda left Hello Pro Egg to join idol group AKBN0.

In 2011, second generation Amulet Heart, Mizuki Fukumura, was added to Morning Musume as a 9th generation member.

Also in 2011, another former Shugo Chara Egg! member, and the last of the first generation, Akari Saho finished her training in Hello Pro Egg, and was later added to UpFront Girls and UFZS.

Only one former member remains in Hello Pro Egg, Nanami Tanabe.
